The following instructions should be followed when storing cars outdoors to ensure
that all cars are delivered to their customers in absolutely tip-top condition.
It should be noted that the aggressive nature of industrial fallout, which can cause corrosion, paintwork
etching and other defects, may vary due to the type and density of neighbouring industrial plants, local
wind conditions etc.
Consequently, it is the owner's responsibility to familiarise himself with the quality of the environmental
conditions in his own locality and to ensure that the relevant maintenance procedures are implemented.
The instructions in this manual should be adapted to ensure that cars stored in areas with exceptionally
aggressive environments are checked extra carefully and more frequently for signs of environmental
damage.
If necessary, additional protective measures must be adopted in the form of extra washing and
reinforced protective coating.

Measures for storage

The most effective form of protection is storage under cover and on a firm surface. The following measures should be adopted for
storage:
1. If necessary, thoroughly clean the car inside and out.2. Protect the paintwork on all horizontal surfaces if no paintwork protection has
been applied.3. If possible, park the car under cover (a low roof is better than a high roof). If this
is not feasible, choose a location where the level of industrial fallout is minimised (the amount of fallout
may vary considerably even within a short distance).

Примечание: Never place a plastic cover directly over the car to protect the body! This may lead
to condensation and corrosion damage.

  1. In the event of severe dirt accumulation such as bird droppings, the car should be
rinsed clean with water.5. Check the washer fluid to ensure there is sufficient anti-freeze to avoid
freezing.6. Check that there is sufficient fuel in the fuel tank (above the reserve level so the
fuel gauge warning lamp does not light up).7. Pump up the tyres to 300 kPa.8. Disconnect the battery's negative cable.9. Instrument panel and rear parcel shelf. Apply a layer of gauze or similar material
across the instrument panel and steering wheel (or cover the windshield and windows). In addition,
protect the rear parcel shelf from strong heat.10. Check that all interior covers are intact. Replace if
    necessary.

Примечание: If storage time is to exceed 60 days protection of decals and
brake discs is recommended. For further information see
Transport protection for brake discs, insertion/removal

The instructions in this manual comply with established Volvo standards and with
current Swedish environmental legislation, for example occupational safety regulations relating to water
and gas emissions. These instructions should be adapted, as necessary, to comply with the legislation
and regulations in force in your specific country.

Примечание: CAUTION! Always wear the recommended protective equipment! See the
instructions given as part of the various procedures.
