Turn-by-turn Navigation System (2001, 2002)

• Move the left front seat to its rearmost position
• Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
• Disconnect the battery negative lead.

• Remove the loudspeaker grille as follows:Insert the tool, Volvo P/N 999-5919-46 in the joint between the loudspeaker grille and the dashboard approximately as illustrated, until it engages.
• Twist the tool 90° so that the bent section engages with the underneath of the loudspeaker grille.

Illustration B

• Pull upwards until the loudspeaker grille detaches. The loudspeaker grille is securely fastened by five clips. Move the tool closer to the clips to facilitate removal.

• Remove the screws (1). Remove the bracket (2).
• Place the console to one side, it shall not be used again.

Applies to cars with centre loudspeakers

• Remove the four screws in the loudspeaker (1).
• Lift up the loudspeaker. Disconnect the connector (2).
• Place the loudspeaker to one side, it shall not be used again.

Steps 5 – 9 apply to cars up to and including model year –2004

• Remove the panel in front of the gear selector lever. Pry off the panel using a plastic weatherstrip tool.

• Remove the panel around the gear selector. Press in the catches at the front edge and lift upwards. First lift at the front edge and then at the rear edge.

• Remove the two screws from the dashboard environment panel.

• Angle the dashboard environment panel outwards so that it is possible to insert a couple of fingers between the centre console and the reverse of the panel.
• Detach the dashboard environment panel by pulling it downwards while maintaining the same angle. Some force is required because the panel is tightly installed.
• Disconnect the connectors on the reverse of the dashboard environment panel. Place the dashboard environment panel to one side.

Примечание: If any of the outer hooks break off, these must be repaired. The method for this can be found in the Workshop Manual in the section about the dashboard.

• Remove the screws from the radio bracket.
• Pull out the bracket with the radio. Pull the lower corner while pressing downwards.
• Detach the connectors from the radio and from the keypad to the telephone if fitted. Place the console with the radio to one side.

Steps 10–12 apply to cars from and including model year 2005–

• Detach the rear edge of the gear selector lever cover together with the boot until the two clips release. Use a plastic weatherstrip tool. Remove the gear selector lever cover and the boot. Pull the panel up until the four clips at the sides release.

• Engage the handbrake and move the gear selector lever towards the rear.
• Turn the cover panel to the left for better access.
• Remove the two screws holding the bracket with the radio and dashboard environment panel in the centre console.

• Remove the bracket with dashboard environment panel and the radio from the centre console: Pull the lower edge out and downwards until it releases from the mounting at the upper edge. Then fold backwards.

If necessary, the panel around the gear lever selector can be removed for additional space. The panel is secured with four catches on the underside along the boot.
- Disconnect the connectors from the radio and dashboard environment panel. Also disconnect the connector from the phone keypad if applicable. Place the unit to one side.

Steps 13 - 20 only apply to cars without handsfree telephone.

• Lock the steering wheel in the lowest, rearmost position.
• Remove the rubber seal from the upper steering column cover by carefully prying the 5 catches loose using a weatherstrip tool.

• Carefully pry out the 2 x clips (2) in the bottom edge of the combined instrument panel to remove the combined instrument panel surround.
• Pull the surround back until the three clips (1) at the top edge release.

• Remove the four screws for the combined instrument panel.
• Pull out the combined instrument panel. Disconnect the connector on the reverse of the combined instrument panel.
• Place the combined instrument panel to one side.

• Remove the screw (1) to the visor (the semi-circular section of the dashboard above the combined instrument panel).
• Take the bracket (2) from the kit and fit it as illustrated.
• Tighten the bracket using the screw (1) for the semi-circular section.

• Press the bracket against the mating surfaces where the three holes are to be drilled.
• Hold the bracket firmly in place. First drill the two marked holes through the bracket and the dashboard. Use a Ø5 mm (13/64") diameter drill bit. Use a Ø25 mm (1") diameter drill stop.
• Remove any swarf.

• Insert the bracing plate (1) through the hole in the dashboard.
• Secure the bracket (2) using two screws (3) from the kit while pressing the bracket against the mating surfaces.
• Tighten the screws so that the bracket is pressed into, and is at the same level as, the end face of the dashboard.
• Drill out the last hole. Use a Ø5 mm (13/64") diameter drill bit.
• Remove any swarf.
• Insert the bracing plate (5) through the hole in the dashboard.
• Secure the bracket using a screw (4) from the kit.

• Take the surround for the combined instrument panel and mark out the recess for the bracket.
• File out a groove (1) for the installed bracket.
• Deburr the filed recess.
• Connect and reinstall the combined instrument panel.
• Reinstall the combined instrument panel surround.
• Install the rubber seal in the upper steering column cover.

• Fit the remote control holder to the bracket. Use the existing plastic screws fitted in the bracket.

• Remove the side panel (1) on the centre console. First twist the clip at the rear edge of the panel a 1/4 turn. Pull the rear edge of the panel outwards and backwards.
• Remove the sill trim panel (2).

• Remove the soundproofing panel on the left-hand side by first removing the two screws and then prying it loose at the back edge with a weatherstrip tool. It is fitted with two clips at the rear edge.

• Remove the rear seat cushion (1) by pulling it up at the front edge, pulling it forward and then lifting it away.

• Remove the sill trim panel at the left rear door.

• Fold both the rear backrests forward.
• Take the seatbelts out from the guides (1).

• Remove the clip (1) at the side of the left-hand side cushion.
• Pull the top edge of the left-hand front cargo compartment panel out to access the upper lock for the side cushion.
• Repeat the operation on the right-hand side.

• Remove the left-hand side cushion. First press in the catches (1) at the top of the reverse of the side cushion. Pull the cushion out slightly.
• Grasp the cushion using both hands. Twist anti-clockwise until the catches on the inside release.
• Remove the side cushion. First pull out the top of the side cushion. Then pull upwards.
• Remove the right-hand cushion in the same way.

• Remove the cover and screw in the left-hand C-pillar panel.
• Repeat the operation on the right-hand side.

• Detach the rubber strip at the rear edge on the left-hand rear door's frame.
• Grip the top edge of the C-pillar panel and pull it in (A) until the three clips (1) release.
• Pull the panel away straight up (B), and place it to one side.
• Remove the panel to the right-hand C-pillar in the same way.

• Carefully lift the front edge of the parcel shelf until the clips (1) release.
• Raise the panel more until the guide pins (2) disengage from their holes.
• Pull out the parcel shelf and lay it on the folded backrests.

• Remove the carpet from the luggage compartment.

• Press in the centre of the clips on the lower edge of the folding side panel on the left-hand side until a click is heard.
• Remove the two clips.
• Remove the plastic nut at the front/lower edge of the side panel.
• Repeat the operation on the right-hand side.

• Turn the handle (1) on the right and left-hand sides. Turn the handle through 90°.
• Fold the side panels down and lift them out. Place the left-hand side panel to one side. There is a new panel in the kit.
• Pull the tailgate sill trim panel (2) forward on the right and left-hand sides until the clips on each side release. Pull firmly but carefully, the panel is fitted securely.
• Remove the wiring (3) for the cargo compartment lighting.
• Following which, pull the sill trim panel straight up until the four clips on the underneath release. Remove the sill trim panel.

Remove:

• the clips (1) in the left-hand front side panel in the cargo compartment.
• the front side panel and place it to one side.

• Take the holder for the screen from the kit and cut away the attached washer. It shall be used in step 38.
• File away the burrs on the washer and holder.

• Take the cable with yellow and large black connector to the screen from the kit. Thread the cable through the hole in the screen's holder.

• Fit the large connector to the screen's holder.

• Take the washer for mounting the screen's holder to the bracket and fit it on the underside of the holder.

• Take two screws from the kit and tighten the connector to the holder.

• Take the console which secures the complete unit in the dashboard from the kit. Align the screen's holder in the console and attach it with a screw from the kit. Do not tighten hard yet.

• Take the loudspeaker from the kit.Install the loudspeaker in the console together with the screen's holder with screws from the kit. The loudspeaker must be aligned with the cable connectors to the right in the car.
• Tighten all screws to the loudspeaker and holder.

• Align the screen with console and cable at the hole for the centre loudspeaker.
• Guide the free connector down through the hole to the centre loudspeaker, along the left-hand inside of the centre console, along the air ducts under the floor carpet and out at the sill to the left-hand front door.
• Take the remaining long cable harness from the kit and route it the same way as above, but start by guiding it up by the sill under the carpet at the left-hand front door, with the two grey connectors and relay first.
• Clamp both cable harnesses at the existing cable harness, at point (1) and at the strut (2) in the centre console. Use tie straps from the kit.

• Connect the routed cable harness with the two grey connectors and relay as follows:
• Install the complete unit in the hole in the dashboard with the existing screws.

• Route the two cables under the carpet, along the left-hand side of the car, to the rear door.
• Route the cable further under and along the front cable duct (1). Continue along the right-hand side of the rear cable duct (2).On the large cable harness is a black/white (SB/W) solid core wire connected to one of the large connectors. This shall subsequently be connected to the relay box on the left-hand side in the bulkhead.
• Securely clamp the cables at the cable duct with tie strap (3) from the kit.

Illustration A applies to cars up to and including model year -2004

Illustration B applies to cars from and including model year 2005-

• Route the two cables further along the right-hand side of the cable duct (1) and under the cables connected there. Remove the connectors if necessary.
• Route them in the cargo compartment along the existing cable duct/cable harness (2) at the side of the wheel housing and position them as illustrated.
• Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004:Connect the ground cable at the rear of the ground terminals (3) under the carpet under the seat cushion. Tighten the ground screw firmly.
• Applies to cars from and including model year 2005-:Connect the ground cable in the ground terminal (3) in the rear crossmember behind the battery. Tighten the ground screw firmly.

• Remove the screw in the panel to the bonnet release and remove the bonnet release from the side of the body.
• Thread the bonnet release through the hole in the carpet and fold the carpet away from the side of the body.

• Position the edge of the carpet under the pedals.
• Pull forward the black/white (SB/W) solid core wire routed earlier and position it as illustrated.

Steps 48-51 apply to cars from and including model year 2005–

• Remove the 60-pin black connector from the rear side/underneath of the relay box on the left-hand side under the dashboard. First press in the release button at the blue catch, following which turn the catch as far as possible until the connector releases.

• Remove the connector from the holder by carefully prizing out the two catches at the sides, and then press out the connector.

Connection in connector

• Install the cable terminal P/N 9442486 from the kit on the routed black/white (SB/W) solid core wire.
• Connect the black/white (SB/W) solid core wire to position 59 in the connector. The positions are marked with small figures on end faces of the connector.
• Reinstall the connector in the holder and install the connector in the relay box.
• Fold back the carpet. Reinstall the bonnet release and tighten it with the screw.

The connection in the connector at position 59 is in use by another cable

• Undo and cut the cable in position 59 a bit from the connector so that the new cable can be spliced together with this one using a crimping sleeve.
• Splice the leads as illustrated in steps 52-54.
• Reinstall the connector in the holder and reinstall the connector in the relay box.
• Fold back the carpet.
• Reinstall the bonnet release and tighten it with the screw.

Splicing with insulated, water-resistant splicing sleeve

Illustration A

Select a suitable splicing sleeve based on the area of the cable. See table.

If the area of the cables differs so greatly in size that they do not fit the same splicing sleeve, select the splicing sleeve that fits the thicker of the cables.

• Strip the thicker cable. See table.
• Strip the thinner cable to double the length and double over the stripped section.

Illustration B

• Strip the three cable ends in accordance with the above table. Use stripping pliers, P/N 9512620.

Pressing the sleeve

Illustration A

• Insert the crimping sleeve, P/N 9130467, in the press tool, P/N 9512785. Select a socket based on the colour marking. Clamp the pliers just enough that the crimping sleeve remains in the pliers.
• Insert the cable in the crimping sleeve until it reaches the stop.

Примечание: Make sure that the cable insulation does not come into the press area of the sleeve or that the stripped part or the cable extends outside of the sleeve.

Illustrations B and C

• Press the legs of the pliers completely together to ensure a proper splice. The pliers will then release automatically.
• With your hand, check that the crimping sleeve is securely in place.

Heating the crimping sleeve

Illustrations A and B

• Place a suitable shield behind the cables to be crimped to prevent thermal stress to the surrounding area.
• Warm the sleeve with a hot air gun, P/N 9512777, and suitable nozzle. It is extremely important that the crimping sleeve be securely crimped around the cable. You should be able to see that a little bit of glue has been forced out around the cable. (Illustration B).

Steps 55 - 57 apply to cars up to and including model year –2004

• Insert a screwdriver up between the bracket and relay box. Turn the screwdriver so that the bracket expands. At the same time pull the bracket out towards the lower edge of the dashboard.
• Remove the relay box from the bracket and pull it down under the dashboard.

• Undo the screw holding the connector so that it releases from the threads. Feel with your fingers to release the screw.

Осторожно: Take care not to damage the terminal pins.
- Detach the connector using pliers. Grip the screw and pull it straight out so that the connector and cover follow too.

• Undo and cut the cable in position D10 a bit from the connector so that the new cable can be spliced together with this one using a crimping sleeve.
• Splice with an insulated, water-resistant splicing sleeve as in steps 52-54.

Reinstall:

• the connector
• the cover on the connector
• the connectors to the relay box and tighten the screw
• the relay box.
• Fold back the carpet. Reinstall the bonnet release and tighten it with the screw.

• Take the GPS antenna from the kit and clean the underneath using isopropanol P/N 1161721. Wipe dry.

• Take the double-sided adhesive tape from the kit and remove the white backing film from the tape.

• Press in the double-sided adhesive tape firmly on the underneath of the GPS antenna.

• Clean the marked surface on the parcel shelf using isopropanol P/N 1161721 for mounting the GPS antenna. Wipe dry.

• Remove the translucent backing from the tape on the GPS antenna.

• Take the GPS antenna (1) and press it in the rear edge on the parcel shelf in the position as illustrated.
• Route the cable to the GPS antenna along the existing cable for the loudspeaker, inside the holder (2) for the seatbelt.
• Clamp at the points (3) with tie straps from the kit.
• Route the cable through the hole at the front edge of the wheel housing, out to the cargo compartment.

Примечание: Make sure that the cable does not chafe against sharp edges.

• Take the CD drive from the kit. Remove the screw to the adapter and remove the adapter on the side of the CD drive. Do this on both sides. These parts shall not be used again.

Applies to kits with the older version of the CD console

• Take the CD drive console from the kit a drill a Ø3.5 mm (9/64") hole on each side of the console as illustrated.
• Deburr the hole edges and apply anti-corrosion agent to them.

• Clean the marked surface on the rear edge of the console using isopropanol P/N 1161721. Wipe dry.

• Take a Velcro fastener from the kit and remove the protective tape.

• Press in the Velcro fastener centrally on the rear section of the console. Press hard so that it is firmly secured.

• Take the CD drive from the kit and clean the marked surface on the underside using isopropanol P/N 1161721. Wipe dry.

• Take a Velcro fastener from the kit and remove the protective tape.

• Press in the Velcro fastener in the centre of the rear section of the CD drive. Press hard so that it is firmly secured.

• Insert the CD drive into the console.
• Fit the two screws from the kit in the console and CD drive.
• Press in the rear end of the CD drive against the console so that the Velcro fasteners secure.
• Tighten the CD drive to the console with the two screws.

• Take the spring nut (1) from the kit and press it in to the plate edge on the lower of the sockets (2) in the plate.

Applies to cars in Europe: continue with step 78.

Applies to cars without towbar from and including model year 2005-

Connect:

• the cable (1) with yellow connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive, furthest to the left in the connector
• the cable (2) with brown connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (3) with black connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (4) from the GPS antenna (a faint click is heard when it is connected) to the CD drive.White and green/blue connectors in the routed cable harness are only used if the car is to have a TMC receiver. Clamp them up with tie straps from the kit.
• the cable (5) with large black connector in the routed cable harness to the socket for towbar wiring in the fuse holder.

Applies to cars with towbar from and including model year 2005-

Connect:

• the cable (1) with yellow connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive, furthest to the left in the connector
• the cable (2) with brown connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (3) with black connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (4) from the GPS antenna (a faint click is heard when it is connected) to the CD drive.White and green/blue connectors in the routed cable harness are only used if the car is to have a TMC receiver. Clamp them up with tie straps from the kit.

The two grey connectors shall not be used. Clamp them up together with all excess cables using a tie strap from the kit, on the left-hand side in the rear edge of the wheel housing in a suitable way, so that there is no rattling.

• the cable (1) with yellow connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive, furthest to the left in the connector
• the cable (2) with brown connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive

• the cable (5) in the adapter wiring from the kit with large black and grey connectors, to the corresponding connector in the routed cable harness

• the cable (6) in the adapter wiring is routed to the rear crossmember, over the rear end of the left-hand side member, to the connectors for the towbar wiring
• pull apart the connectors (7) to the towbar wiring and connect to them the two grey connectors in the adapter wiring

The two black connectors shall not be used. Clamp them up together with all excess cables using a tie strap from the kit, on the left-hand side in the rear edge of the wheel housing in a suitable way, so that there is no rattling.

• Clamp up the adapter wiring along the rear crossmember with four tie straps (8) from the kit.

• Take the TMC receiver from the kit and clean the marked surface on the underside using isopropanol P/N 1161721. Wipe dry.

• Take two of the long Velcro fasteners from the kit and cut them into four pieces of equal length.

Illustration A

• Remove the protective tape from two of the cut Velcro fasteners.

Illustration B

• Firmly press in the Velcro fasteners on the underside of the TMC receiver, approximately in the positions illustrated.

• Take the two remaining Velcro fasteners.

Press in the Velcro fasteners centred against the Velcro fasteners on the TMC receiver.

• Connect the white connector in the routed cable harness to the TMC receiver.

• Remove the protective tape from the Velcro fasteners.

• Position the TMC receiver on the top of the CD drive as illustrated and press it in. Press in firmly so that the tape adheres.

• Attach the yellow (1) connector from the screen to the green connector (2) on the routed cable harness.

• Take the solid core wire from the kit and lay it along the rear crossmember.

- Route the connector to the TMC unit. The cable must be routed on the underside of the fuse holder along the existing cable harnesses.
- Route the other end of the cable in front of the right-hand tail lamp to the antenna amplifier.
- Detach the cable and remove the existing amplifier on the right-hand side of the right rear side member, under the right-hand rear lamp.
- Take the antenna amplifier (1) from the kit. Connect the cable (2) to the connector (3) for the antenna in the rear bumper by the right-hand tail lamp.
- Position the antenna amplifier on the edge of the panel in front of the right tail lamp as illustrated.
- Tighten the antenna amplifier.

• Connect the routed cable to the lower socket (1) on the antenna amplifier.
• Connect the loose cable to the upper socket on the antenna amplifier.

Applies to cars from and including model year 2005-

• Clamp the cable at the existing cable harness under the tailgate sill panel with four tie straps (2) from the kit.

Applies to cars up to and including -2004

• The cable to the antenna amplifier is clamped up together with the adapter wiring to the towbar wiring installed in steps 90-91.

Applies to cars without towbar from model year 2005-

Connect:

• the cables (1) with yellow, green and blue connectors in the routed cable harness to the CD drive (yellow connector to the left in the connection)
• the cable (2) with brown connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (3) with black connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (4) from the GPS antenna (a faint click is heard when it is connected) to the CD drive
• the cable (5) from the antenna amplifier under the right-hand rear lamp to the TMC receiver
• the cable (6) with large black connector to the socket for towbar wiring in the fuse holder

Clamp all excess cable with a tie strap from the kit, on the left-hand side in the rear edge of the wheel housing in a suitable way, so that there is no rattling.

Applies to cars with towbar from model year 2005-

Connect:

• the cables (1) with yellow, green and blue connectors in the routed cable harness to the CD drive (yellow connector to the left in the connection)
• the cable (2) with brown connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (3) with black connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (4) from the GPS antenna (a faint click is heard when it is connected) to the CD drive
• the cable (5) from the antenna amplifier under the right-hand rear lamp to the TMC receiver
• the adapter wiring (6) from the kit with large black and grey connectors, to the socket for towbar wiring in the fuse holder (existing connector to the towbar wiring in the fuse holder is detached)
• the cable (7) from the towbar wiring to the adapter wiring
• the cable (8) in the routed cable harness to the adapter wiring

The two grey connectors shall not be used. Clamp them up together with all excess cables using a tie strap from the kit, on the left-hand side in the rear edge of the wheel housing in a suitable way, so that there is no rattling.

Applies to cars without towbar up to and including model year -2004 Illustration A

Connect:

• the cable (1) with yellow, green and blue connectors in the routed cable harness to the CD drive (yellow connector to the left in the connection)
• the cable (2) with brown connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (3) with black connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (4) from the GPS antenna (a faint click is heard when it is connected) to the CD drive
• the cable (5) from the antenna amplifier under the right-hand rear lamp to the TMC receiver
• the cable (6) in the adapter wiring from the kit, with large black and grey connectors, to the corresponding connector in the routed cable harness
• the cable (7) in the adapter wiring is routed to the rear crossmember, over the rear end of the left-hand side member, to the pre-routed grey connector for the towbar wiring

Illustration B

• the cable (8) with grey connector to the towbar wiring, to the corresponding connector in the routed adapter wiring

The two black connectors shall not be used. Clamp them up together with all excess cables using a tie strap from the kit, on the left-hand side in the rear edge of the wheel housing in a suitable way, so that there is no rattling.

• Clamp up the adapter wiring together with the excess grey connector and cable to the antenna amplifier, along the rear crossmember, with four tie straps (9) from the kit.

Applies to cars with towbar model year -2004 Illustration A

Connect:

• the cable (1) with yellow, green and blue connectors in the routed cable harness to the CD drive (yellow connector to the left in the connection)
• the cable (2) with brown connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (3) with black connector in the routed cable harness to the CD drive
• the cable (4) from the GPS antenna (a faint click is heard when it is connected) to the CD drive
• the cable (5) from the antenna amplifier under the right-hand rear lamp to the TMC receiver
• the cable (6) in the adapter wiring from the kit with large black and grey connectors, to the corresponding connector in the routed cable harness
• the cable (7) in the adapter wiring is routed to the rear crossmember, over the rear end of the left-hand side member, to the connectors for the towbar wiring

• pull apart the connectors (8) to the towbar wiring and connect to them the two grey connectors in the adapter wiring

The two black connectors shall not be used. Clamp them up together with all excess cables using a tie strap from the kit, on the left-hand side in the rear edge of the wheel housing in a suitable way, so that there is no rattling.

• Clamp up the adapter wiring and cable to the antenna amplifier along the rear crossmember with four tie straps (9) from the kit.

• Install the console with the CD drive in the rear edge of the left-hand rear wheel housing with three screws (1) from the kit. Tighten the screws to 10 Nm (7 lbf ft).

• Newer cars:Connect the connectors to the radio, the dashboard environment panel and to the keypad to the telephone if fitted.Reinstall the unit with radio and dashboard environment panel in the centre console. Tighten with the two screws.
• Older cars: Connect the connector to the radio, and if the car has a telephone, to its keypad. Reinstall the radio. Connect the connectors to the dashboard environment panel and reinstall it.
• Reinstall the panel and gear selector lever boot around the gear selector lever.
• Fold back the carpet.
• Reinstall the soundproofing panel on the left-hand side.
• Reinstall the centre console side panel.
• Reinstall the sill trim panels on the left-hand side.
• Reinstall the parcel shelf panel.
• Reinstall the C-pillar panels and press in the rubber strips.
• Check that the following fuses and relays are installed in the Rear Electronic Module (REM):

Applies to cars up to and including model year -2004

Applies to cars from model year 2005-

• Reinstall the front side panel in the cargo compartment.
• Connect the cargo compartment lighting's connectors to the tailgate sill trim panel and reinstall it.
• Install a new left-hand folding panel from the kit and reinstall the right-hand folding panel in the cargo compartment.
• Reinstall the side cushions.
• Fold the backrests back into place.
• Reinstall the seat cushion.

• Take a new loudspeaker grille from the kit and press it into the dashboard.

• Take the screen from the kit and press it into its holder/connector.

• Take the remote control from the kit, fit batteries and press it into the holder, if fitted.

• Turn the ignition key to position II.
• Reconnect the battery negative lead.
• Reinstall the cargo compartment carpet.

• The system now starts up with the Volvo logo and is ready for use.

Applies only if the car has AEM and the Radio Mute function is desired

The function mutes the radio when there are navigation messages.

• Take a new cable with minimum area 0.35 mm² (0.000542501 in²).
• Using a crimping sleeve, splice the new cable with the brown/white (BN/W) cable from the brown connector at the navigation unit.
• Route the cable along the rear crossmember and connect it at position 11 in AEM. If the position is in use by handsfree mute, splice the cable with the crimping sleeve. Make sure that the splices are done as described in steps 52-54.
• Load the Telemute application in AEM.
