Storage box (2004, 2005)

Applies to cars with the accessory plastic mat

• Remove the plastic mat from the cargo compartment
• Cut off the left hand section of the mat to make room for the storage box. Cut at the top of the edge around the plastic mat.

• Remove the upper floor supports on the left and right-hand sides if applicable.

Removing the sill trim panel from the tailgate:

• Unscrew the two external clips at the front edge/bottom edge of the sill trim panel on the tailgate
• Pry up one of the corners of the sill trim panel using a weatherstrip tool so that the two clips at that end release
• Pull up the sill trim panel at the other end so that the remaining two clips release. Remove the sill trim panel
• Detach the rubber strip where it covers the left-hand side panel in the boot opening.

Removing the left-hand side panel:

• Remove the three clips (1) securing the left-hand side panel in the bodywork
• Unhook the side panel from the mounting (2) on the underneath of the parcel shelf
• Fold out the rear edge of the side panel from the bodywork. At the same time unhook the side panel from the rear load securing eyelet
• Fold out the side panel so that the markings for making holes on the reverse of the panel are accessible.

• Make holes on the reverse of the side panel at the existing markings. Use a ø6 mm (15/64”) diameter drill bit
• Clean around the edges of the holes.

• Take the clips for the storage box from the kit and install them in the holes. Press the clips together as close as possible by hand
• Take a hammer. Place a counterhold on the reverse of the side panel
• Carefully tap the clips using the hammer, so that the clips engage.

• Hook the side panel back into place using its clips
• Reinstall the rubber strip at the left-hand side panel
• Reinstall the sill trim panel in the boot opening
• Reinstall the upper floor supports if applicable
• Reinstall the cargo compartment carpet.

Installing the storage box:

• Hook the storage box into place on the installed clips
• Press the storage box down so that its base is against the lower edge of the side panel.
