Sports exhaust system

• Raise the car to work from underneath
• Spray rust solvent on the screws and nuts to be loosened.

• Remove the three nuts and screws on the pipe flange holding the rear silencer to the remainder of the exhaust system. Place the nuts and screws to one side. They will not be reused.

Подсказка: Dampen the rubber mountings using a soap solution to facilitate removing and installing.

• Remove the rear silencer by removing screws (1), (2) and (3) (see illustration 3A, B, C) for the mountings in the body. Place the screws to one side. They will not be reused
• Remove the gasket at the pipe flange, it will not be used again
• Remove the old rubber mountings from the mounting points. They will not be used again.

• Remove the clamp (1) that connects the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) section to the centre section of the exhaust system. Put the clamp to one side. It will not be used again.

• Take the centre section from the kit and place it on the floor.

• Mark a point on top of the silencer on the front right-hand side. See illustration B.

• Take a 35 mm (1 3/8”) diameter drift. Knock a 8 mm (5/16”) deep dent in the plate so that the silencer does not catch in the heat deflector plate underneath the car
• Rust-proof the paintwork damage.

• Detach the centre section of the silencer (1) from its mountings. Remove the screws (2), the rubber mountings (3), the gasket (4) and the washer (5). These will not be reused. New components can be found in the kit
• Pull the centre section and the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) section apart. Lower the centre section
• Lift the new centre section. Screw the centre section into the two mounting points. Use the new screws (2), the rubber mountings (3), the gasket (4) and the washer (5) from the kit. Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lbf. ft.)
• Install the new clamp from the kit. Tighten to 60 Nm (44 lbf. ft.).

• Take out the new rubber mountings and the screws for the rear silencer from the kit
• Lift the new rear silencer. Screw the silencer into position on the three mounting points together with the rubber mountings. Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lbf. ft.).

• Install the new gasket (from the kit) between both pipe flanges
• Screw the rear silencer to the remainder of the exhaust system at the pipe flange. Use new screws and nuts from the kit. Tighten to 48 Nm (36 lbf. ft.).

• Lower the car.
