The control unit can be identified by reading a code from the control unit memory. The code contains information about the control unit's component number.

Reading and programming country code

The way the central locking system works varies from one market to another, because of market and legal requirements. The country code should only be changed if it is wrong.

Reading off and erasing sources of alarms

The last six sources of alarms are held and displayed simultaneously: the same source of alarm may occur more than once. Erasing sources of alarm is done via the 'Erase DTCs' function.

Possible causes of alarms are:

  • doors
  • trunk/tailgate
  • hood
  • sensor (ultrasonic or glassbreakage)
  • extra sensor input

Reading and programming alarm status

The alarm can be deactivated if the customer so wishes: in other words, the car will behave as if it did not have an alarm. Of course, it is always possible to reactivate the alarm system again.

Reading, erasing and programming keycodes

Normally, two keycodes are programmed in, i.e. the two codes supplied with the car. Other keys can be programmed without having to reprogram the first two keys again (ADD KEY MODE). Up to six keys can be programmed. You can read off how many keycodes have been programmed in and erase all codes or program in new keycodes (ERASE/NEW KEYS).
