Background:
New tappets (valve depressors) were introduced in the fall (autumn) of 1997 to maintain improved starting characteristics and to reduce the risk of misfire.The new tappets drain the engine oil quicker allowing the valve lifters to close more quickly.The new tappets can also be used on older cars (4 valve gasoline engines).
