Removing the filter

Remove:
- the right and left windshield wiper
- the cowl panel. Press in the centre of the six clips. Remove the six clips.
Applies to the S80
- Remove the panel under the cover panel.

- Remove the combustion fan fuse, number 26.

- Remove the drainage around the air intake
- Turn the ignition on. Check that the recirculation function on the dashboard environment panel is not activated (the air intake is open). Press in AUTO and turn up the blower fan switch a few notches manually. This is to open the shutter
- Cover the air intake for the fan housing. This is to prevent swarf from falling into the fan
- Activate the recirculation function. This is to close the shutter.

- Drill out the marked hole in the air shutter. Use a Ø6 mm (15/64") drill bit. It is important that the hole is drilled exactly where the marking is
- File off the edges of the hole.

- Switch off the recirculation function on the dashboard environmental panel so that the air intake opens
- Find marking (1) in the short end of the air intake (left hand end on left-hand drive cars. Right hand end on right-hand drive cars). Illuminate using a small torch. Mark out the contours using a light pen
- Position a drift in the centre of the marking. Carefully tap out the mark. Use a hammer
- Remove the plastic rectangle
- Carefully remove the covering from the fan housing. This is to prevent swarf falling down into the fan.

- Slide the passenger seat as far back as possible
- Remove the side panel from the centre console. Turn the clip (1) a quarter turn on the centre console side panel. Pull the panel out and back
- Remove the soundproofing panel. Remove the two screws from the underside of the soundproofing panel. Pull the rear edge of the panel downwards to release the two clips. Then pull it backwards.

- Turn the ignition key to position 0
- Remove the key from the ignition switch (does not apply to cars with automatic gearboxes)
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.
Примечание: Wait at least five minutes before disassembling the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.

Remove:
- the cover from the filter housing for the heater under the dashboard on the passenger side. First remove the four screws (1).
- the old filter.
Installing the multifilter

- Cut out the plastic cover from the front groove in the filter holder
- Install the new filter from the kit. Install the new filter in the front groove. Carefully bend the filter (split open at the vertical corners). Slide the filter into position
- Reinstall the cover. Secure the cover. Use the four screws.
Installing the switch
Illustration A applies to the S60, and V70 (00-)

- Remove the panel in front of the gear selector lever. Pry off the panel using a weatherstrip tool
Illustration B applies to the S80

- Carefully remove the panel (1) by the gear selector lever. Pry carefully using a weatherstrip tool.
Applies to the S60 and V70 (00-)

- Press in the catches on the front edge of the gear selector lever panel. Lift the panel upwards, first the front edge and then the rear edge. Remove the panel around the gear selector lever.

- Move the gear selector lever to its rearmost position
- Remove the two screws from the dashboard environment panel.
Illustration B applies to the S80

- Move the gear selector lever to its rearmost position
- Pull the panel (1) with the boot backwards as far as possible. Turn the panel as illustrated
- Remove the screws (2) from the dashboard environment panel (3).

- Angle the dashboard environment panel outwards so that it is possible to insert a couple of fingers between the centre console and the side of the dashboard environment panel
- Remove the dashboard environment panel. Pull it downward, maintaining the same angle. Some force is required because the panel is tightly installed
- Disconnect the connectors on the reverse of the dashboard environment panel. Place the dashboard environment panel to one side.

Illustration A applies to the S60, and V70 (00-)

Illustration B applies to the S80

- Remove the screws (1) from the radio bracket
- Pull out the radio. Pull the lower corner while pressing downwards
- Disconnect the connectors on the reverse of the radio. Remove the radio.

- Insert a thin piece of steel wire through the hole made in the fan housing. Insert the wire so that it exits under the heater.

- Tape the small connector onto the included cable harness at the wire.

- Carefully pull up the wire with the connector to the fan housing. There may be resistance when pulling the wire with the connector past the foam rubber seal for the heater
- Remove the tape and the wire from the connector.

- Connect the routed connector to the sensor from the kit.

- Snap the sensor into the fan housing as illustrated. Do not damage the seal for the sensor when installing.

- Fold back the front edge and left side of the carpet. Position the cable (1)
- Route the cable in front of the air vent up to the compartment for the dashboard environment panel
- Connect the connectors to the radio. Reinstall the radio.

- Remove the upper left mounting hook (1) on the dashboard environment panel. Carefully bend out the left corner of the front panel
- Carefully pry the existing panel from the switch using a small screwdriver.
- Install the new switch on the dashboard environment panel
- Press the left-hand corner of the front panel on the dashboard environment into place.
Finishing work

- Connect the routed 22 pin connectors (1) between the connector (2) and the dashboard environment panel (3)
- Connect the other two other connectors to the dashboard environment panel.
Reinstall:
- the dashboard environmental panel
- the panel around the gear selector lever
- the right panel on the centre console. Reinstall the soundproofing panel on the right-hand side.
- the fuse
- the drainage around the air intake
- the cowl panel(s)
- the windshield wipers.

- Turn the ignition key to position II
- Reconnect the battery negative lead
- Program the software according to the service information in VIDA.
