Hands free unit for carphone, Universal (4)

• Make a note of the radio code.

• Remove the soundproofing panel (1) on both sides.

• Take the mounting plate, bracket and mounting plate for the carphone holder from the kit
• Install the mounting plate (1) on the bracket (2) together with the mounting plate for the carphone holder (3). Tighten using the screws, washers and nuts from the kit.

Remove:

• the ventilation grille by pulling straight backwards using a hooked object
• the screws (1, 2, 3).

• Remove the panel (1)
• Install the plastic nut (2) from the kit.

• Lift the top of the dashboard slightly. Insert the angled section of the mounting plate in the gap under the ventilation outlet in the panel.

• Install the screws (1, 2, 3). Ensure that the screw (2) goes through the hole in the angled section of the mounting plate
• Secure the bracket using the screw (4) from the kit
• Reinstall the ventilation grille.

• Press in the latch handles (1) for the radio fully so that they release
• Pull out the latch handles and the radio
• Disconnect the connectors from the radio.

• Take the carphone holder from the kit. Press it into place in the mounting plate.

• Remove the rubber seal from the upper steering column cover. First pry the five clips loose. Use a weatherstrip tool.

• Take the microphone from the kit. Disconnect the microphone from the mounting plate. It is secured by two mounting hooks (one on each long side)
• Place the mounting plate to one side. It will not be used again.

• Take the soft Velcro strip from the kit. Remove the backing.

• Position the Velcro at the rear edge of the upper steering column cover on the right-hand side. See the measurements in the illustration.

• Take the rough Velcro strip from the kit. Remove the protective film
• Secure the Velcro strip on the reverse of the microphone.

• Press the Velcro strip on the microphone firmly against the Velcro strip on the steering column cover, as illustrated.

• Insert the microphone cable down into the hole at the front edge of the steering column cover. The other wiring is also located here
• Route the cable into the centre console and out of the hole where the radio was located.

• Position the cable between the two right-hand holes in the steering column cover
• Press the rubber seal into place in the steering column cover.

• Route the cable for the carphone holder into the centre console and out of the hole where the radio was located.

• Take the joint cable for the carphone holder (1) from the kit. Connect it to the cable routed to the carphone holder.

• Position the recently connected connectors as far in as possible to the left in the centre console. Secure the connectors using a tie strap from the kit. Ensure that the connectors are as far to the left as possible (to avoid conflict with the radio when this is installed).

• Take the hands free box from the kit. Connect the cable to the carphone holder (1) and the cable for the microphone (2) to the hands free box
• Take the large cable harness (3) from the kit. Connect it to the hands free box
• Connect the cable from the carphone holder joint cable (4) to the car antenna. The antenna is installed according to a separate Installation Instruction.

• Position the hands free box on the right-hand side, as far into the centre console as possible (to avoid conflict with the radio)
• Take two tie straps from the kit. Secure the hands free box at the existing cable harnesses.

• Connect the new, large cable harness connectors (1) to the corresponding connectors removed from the radio (2)
• Connect the connectors (3) to the radio
• Connect any other connectors removed from the radio
• Insert all excess cable in the centre console. Some excess cable may need to be routed in behind the carpet on the right-hand side of the centre console to make room
• Reinstall the radio. Press in the latch handles.

• Using a round file, file a cut out for the carphone holder cable in the dashboard, where the upper right-hand corner of the soundproofing panel will be pressed into place.

• Position the carphone holder cable in the cut out. Install the soundproofing panel
• Install the soundproofing panel on the other side
• Enter the anti-theft radio code.
