Fire extinguisher, installation kit (2007, 2008)

• Press the chafe guards into the end of the fire extinguisher holder.

• Remove the tunnel console's right-hand side panel by carefully pulling it away starting at the rear edge. The side panel is secured with six clips on the inside.

• Fold the carpet to one side.

• Fold the insulation panel away from the centre console's right-hand mounting.

• Remove the two screws in the centre console's mounting.

• Install the mounting for the fire extinguisher bracket using existing screws.
• Torque tighten the screws to 24 Nm (18 lbf.ft.).

• Fold back the floor and insulation panel against the bracket and make a hole in the carpet in alignment with the front hole in the bracket.

• Take the screw from the kit and insert it several turns into the front hole.
• Thread on the holder's fixing strap.

• Mark out the rear hole for the holder in the same way as in step 7.

• Take the screw from the kit and insert it several turns into the rear hole.

• Measure out the distance for the hole in the carpet to the holder's fixing strap as illustrated.

• Take the screw from the kit and tighten the fixing strap.
• Torque tighten the screw to 4 Nm (3 lbf.ft.).
• Screw in and torque tighten the holder screws to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf.ft.).

• Reinstall the side panel.

Installing the fire extinguisher in the holder

• Secure the fire extinguisher in the holder. If the fire extinguisher's securement fixture does not tighten properly, remove the fire extinguisher and install the two self-adhesive spacers by the buckles in accordance with steps 15-16.

• Clean the surfaces on the tensioning strap closest to the buckles, using a mixture of 30% washer fluid and 70% water.
• Wipe dry.

• Take the spacers from the kit, remove the protective backing tape from them and press them in close to the buckles.
• Reinstall the fire extinguisher in the holder and secure it in.
