Примечание: The engine block heater can only be used by cars with 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, T4, and 2.0T variant engines.

- Remove the front and rear engine splash guards.

- Apply the drill template in position as illustrated
- First drill two holes. Use a Ø4 mm (5/32”) diameter drill bit. Then drill a Ø29 mm (1 9/64”) diameter hole. Use a hole saw. File down the edges.

- Install the expander nut (1) in the hole
- Thread the supplied cable (2), including the ground lead, down through the hole
- Connect the connector cable supplied (3) to the cable at the expander nut. Tighten clockwise so that the expander nut secures
- Remove the connection cable.
Примечание: Ensure that the drainage hole for the front engine block heater socket is open.

- Route the cable to the front end of the left-hand front member
- Route the cable backwards, underneath the front member to the cross member mounting
- Secure the cable using the four clips from the kit.

- Install the bracket. Use the screw from the kit in the front M8 hole at the rear edge of the left-hand front member at the cross member mounting.

- Lubricate the O-ring using low temperature grease, P/ N 1161427.
Примечание: Ensure that there is no grease on the electrical switches.

- Connect the cable to the joint cable from the kit
- Install the retaining clip
- Secure the joint cable in the previously installed bracket. Use a tie strap with clip from the kit.

- Drill a Ø4 mm (5/32”) diameter hole in the front edge on the left-hand front member behind the existing hole
- Scrape away the paint around the hole
- Treat the edges of the holes with a rust-proofing agent
- Install the ground lead with the screw (1) and the toothed washer (1) from the kit
- Secure any excess ground lead using new tie straps.
Illustration A

- Route the cable over the left steering arm and drive shaft, then along the anti-roll bar to the right-hand mounting of the anti-roll bar on the right-hand side of the body.
Illustration B

- Clamp the cable at the anti-roll bar, on the inside of the mounting on the body. Use three tie straps from the kit
- Pull the cable forward under the boot of the right steering arm. Let the cable hang down over the right hand side of the front member.

Applies to cars without turbocharger (TC)
- Remove the support between the heat shield and the cylinder block
- Install the new support, PN 9499520.

- Thread the radiated heat protection over the cable for the heater
- Lubricate the O ring as illustrated in 6
- Install the extension cable and the locking clip.

Applies to all engine variants
- Apply heat conducting paste, P/N 9499205, on the heater body surfaces (1) which are in contact with the cylinder block.

- Clean the area where the heater will be installed. This ensures optimal heat conduction to the cylinder block
- Also clean the internal threads
- Route the cable between the cylinder block and the drive shaft
- Install the heater on the cylinder block, as illustrated
- Install the spacer washer (1), (t=10 mm (25/14”), between the tensioner (2) and the mounting (3) in the cylinder block. Install the outer spacer washer (4) (t=32 mm or 1 1/4”) outside the tensioner (2)
- Screw the heater into place. Use the screw from the kit. Tighten to 16 Nm (12 lbf.ft).

Does not apply to diesel models
- Thread the radiated heat protection over the cable joint.
Примечание: Ensure that the radiant heat protection covers the joint towards the engine. Secure the radiant heat protection using a tie strap at the lower edge.

- Clamp the cable at the radiator connection. Use a tie strap (1) from the kit.
Applies to cars without turbocharger (TC)
- Reinstall the support between the heat shield and the cylinder block.
Applies to all models
- Reinstall the two splashguards for the engine
- Reconnect the battery negative lead.

- Check the function of the engine block heater.
Примечание: The engine block heater must only be connected to a grounded socket.
- The cable between the wall socket and the car's pin connector should be heavy duty, insulated with oil resistant rubber and type RDO 3x1,5 mm2(3x1/16in2) or heavier. The pin connector should be made of water-tight thermo plastic. Handle the cable carefully so that the insulation is not damaged by sharp bends.
