Примечание: Applies to cars with RTI (road traffic information) / DVD

  • On cars with RTI (road traffic information) / DVD, the required cable harnesses are already routed except for a DIN cable which must be connected between the CD changer and the DVD reader or the TV. The DIN cable must be purchased separately
  • Skip the following points: 1-8, 11, 17-18, 25A and 27.

Preparations

  • Move the left front seat to the rearmost position.

  • Turn the ignition key to position 0
  • Applies to cars with manual gearboxes: Remove the ignition key
  • Disconnect the battery negative lead.

Примечание: Wait at least five minutes before disassembling the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.

  • Pry off the panel in front of the gear selector lever. Use a weatherstrip tool as illustrated. Remove the panel in front of the gear selector lever
  • Shift the gear selector lever to the rearmost position.

  • Remove the two screws from the dashboard environment panel.

  • Angle the dashboard environment panel outwards so that it is possible to grasp the side of the dashboard environment panel using a couple of fingers
  • Remove the dashboard environment panel. Pull it downward, maintaining the same angle. Some force is required because the panel is tightly installed
  • Disconnect the connectors on the reverse of the dashboard environment panel. Place the dashboard environment panel to one side.

Примечание: If any of the outer hooks break off, these must be repaired. See the section dealing with the dashboard in the Service Manual.

  • Remove the screws from the bracket for the radio
  • Pull out the bracket and radio. Pull the lower corner while pressing downwards
  • Disconnect the connectors on the radio. Remove the bracket and radio.

  • Remove the left-hand side panel (1) from the centre console by turning the screw clip and pulling the panel outwards and backwards
  • Remove the sill trim panel (2) at the left-hand front door
  • Remove the cover (3) and the screws (4).

  • Tip the left-hand front seat backwards
  • Push the floor carpet to one side so that the air ducts (1) are accessible.

  • Fold the left rear seat cushion (1) and backrest (2) forward.

  • Pull the upper edges of the left-hand side cushion backwards and lift the cushion. Remove the cushion.

  • Remove the sill trim panel at the left-hand rear door.

  • Remove the two floor hatches in the cargo compartment.

  • Remove the storage box from under the rear floor hatch by turning the clip on the left and right-hand sides 90°. Lift out the box.

  • Remove the left folding panel in the cargo compartment. The panel will not be reused. A new panel is in the kit (does not apply to cars with RTI (road traffic information)).

  • Remove the left-hand front side panel (first remove the cover and the screw from the front edge)
  • Pull the top of the panel out until the clips release
  • Fold the panel inwards. Lift the panel out. The panel will not be reused. A new panel is in the kit (does not apply to cars with RTI (road traffic information)).

  • Cut off the protruding plastic flange using a hacksaw as illustrated.

Cable routing

  • Route the DIN cable for the CD changer up between the front air duct (1) and the bulkhead stay (2)
  • Route the cable through the radio compartment
  • Secure the cable in the stay. Use a tie strap (3)
  • Route the cable above and along the front air duct to the seat mounting member (4)
  • Clamp the wiring to the existing cable harness (5).

  • Continue to route the DIN cable under the carpet along the door sills to the rear seat
  • Install protective caps on the lugs (1) for the cable ducts.

  • Take the power supply cable for the CD-changer from the kit. Connect the ground lead to the front ground terminal (1) in the rear seat
  • Route the DIN cable and the power supply cable to the right-hand side of the air duct (2), under the wiring. Continue up along the left-hand side of the wheel arch and to the left-hand side of the rear crossmember as illustrated.

Connection in the fuse holder

  • Remove the fuse holder by opening the lock (1) on the top of the fuse holder. Fold the fusebox holder forward and lift it out of the mountings (2).

  • Connect the newly routed red/white cable to the outer terminal (1) on the reverse of fuse socket 10 on the fuse holder: Remove the decal (2). Carefully pry up the red secondary lock on the face in the end nearest terminal 10. At the same time press the cable into position.

Подсказка: If there is a problem inserting the cable, the fuses on the outer side must be removed in order to open the red secondary locking further.

  • Reinstall the decal
  • Install a 10A fuse in fuse socket 10 on the fuse holder.

Installing and connecting the CD changer

  • Check that the catches (1, 2) point towards the mark V, (vertical position). If not, move the catches to mark V.

  • Remove the transport screws (1, 2)
  • Install the dust cover (3) over the holes for the transport screws.

  • Install the CD changer in the bracket (1). Use the screws (2) from the kit.

  • Position the CD changer and bracket at the left-hand rear wheel well
  • Connect the blue connector (1) from the routed power supply cable to the CD changer
  • Connect the DIN cable (2) to the CD changer.

  • Position the CD changer and bracket at the left-hand rear wheel well
  • Connect the blue connector (1) from the routed power supply cable to the CD changer
  • Connect the extra provided DIN cable (2) to the CD changer.

  • Install a spring nut from the kit in the front mounting for the CD changer and the bracket
  • Position the CD changer and bracket behind the left-hand wheel well. Tighten using new screws from the kit.

  • Clamp the wiring at the cable harness by the fuse holder, by the hole in the flange, by the rear edge of the wheel arch and at the plastic hose at the front edge of the wheel arch. Use tie straps (1).

  • Remove the two clips (1). Remove the protective cover from the DVD reader.

  • Remove the three screws (1) holding the bracket with the DVD reader. Turn the bracket and DVD reader
  • Connect the DIN cable (2) connected to the CD changer in point 25B to the DVD reader
  • Reinstall the DVD reader bracket. Tighten using the three screws
  • Reinstall the protective cover for the DVD reader.

  • Route the DIN cable, connected to the CD changer in point 25B, along the wheel arch under the rubber insulation. Continue under the TV as illustrated
  • Connect the DIN cable to the TV. Secure the cable at the existing cable harness from the TV
  • Tape any excess wiring at various places to prevent rattles.

Finishing work

  • Applies to cars with RTI (road traffic information) / DVD without TV: Secure the DIN cable and any excess at the cable harness under the fuse holder. Use a tie strap (1)
  • Install the new left-hand side panel and the new folding panel from the kit. Cars with RTI / DVD: Reinstall the existing side panels.

  • Insert the radio in the radio tray. Connect the CD changer connector and the other connectors to the radio
  • Reinstall the bracket with the radio. Tighten the bracket and radio using the screws (1)
  • Connect the connectors to the dashboard environment panel. Reinstall the panel
  • Reinstall the panel in front of the gear selector lever
  • Fold back the carpet
  • Reinstall the centre console centre panel and the sill trim panels
  • Fold the left-hand front seat back into position. Install the new screws from the kit. Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lbf ft). Reinstall the covers
  • Reinstall the side cushions in the rear seat
  • Fold the rear seat cushion and backrest back into position.

  • Turn the ignition key to position II
  • Reconnect the battery negative lead
  • Reinstall the storage box. Fold back both the floor hatches
  • Program the software according to the service information in VIDA.
